Josh Billings was very busy at Focus Tuesday night.

When he wasn't setting up the lights, adjusting the sound system and performing as one of three resident DJs, he was making sure the decorations were put up, the cashier had enough change and the bar was stocked. It's not easy being the boss.

But at least the job pays well.

"If we sell out tonight, I may break even," he said with a laugh.

The affable Billings is not in this for the money. When he started this Tuesday-night club promotion six years ago, he did it so he and his friends would have a place to go to hear house music.

He has only one rule - no VIPs.

"Everybody gets treated the same here," he explained. "There are no passes, even for my friends. There are no VIP sections, and no bottle service. Everybody is the same."

Focus is open to ages 18 and older, although Billings said most of the clientele are at least 21. The good news is that the cover charge is only $5 before 10:30 p.m.

"I don't have a lot of money," Billings said, "but even I can afford $5."
