Snow series: Burton and Analog winter gear
With the snow season coming up in the next few weeks, we checked out a few new styles that you'll be seeing on the slopes this year. We feature Burton – one of the biggest brands in the snow industry, and one that has been around since 1977 – as well as its sister brand, Orange County-based Analog.
Burton has come a long way since creating its first board in the late 1970s. Burton not only caters to mainstream boarders, but also offers an upscale line with its Burton's AK collection.
The AK line comes with technically advanced materials such as GORE-TEX, which is waterproof and windproof, yet breathable. For example, the women's Burton AK 3L Haven Jacket keeps internal temps in check with venting to prevent the wearer from overheating.
The lightweight Burton AK 2L Stratus Pants also features GORE-TEX material, and has meticulous stitching that offers a comfortable fit. Every AK line has a lifetime warranty.
Irvine-based Analog aims to bring a more street wear look to the mountain, offering gear such as snowboard pants that look like denim, or jackets that look like flannel, but have a coating to keep it waterproof on the mountain.
Last year, Analog Clothing created the Analog Technical Fashion (ATF) series with the goal of making casual street wear that are mountain-worthy, with a progressive style that is functional on the slopes.
New this season, Analog has come up with its ATF Arraign snowboarding jacket that offers anindigo-colored pinstripe chambray print with a water-resistant exterior finish. It boasts a quilted and insulated taffeta lining to keep you cozy, along with armpit zipper vents to keep you cool during your rides through secret tree paths.
In addition to the ATF line, Analog's 2012 Alder line also lets you bring street-style to the mountain. The Alder Jacket features waterproofing and breathability with a corduroy hood and sleeves to keep you warm, but that can also be zipped off for warmer spring season. The Alder Pants offer the same waterproofing and breathability as its jacket counterpart, with corduroy knee panels.
For the kids:
With the chilly seasons creeping closer, your little ones will probably want to join you on the slopes. Burton also offers styles for young riders.
All of Burton's children's jacket and pant designs are made with extendable Room-To-Grow features for growing kids. The jackets also offer helmet-friendly hood.
Burton encourages all riders to wear helmets. The RED Avid Grom Cupcake Helmet provides your snow bunny with the protection they need to keep safe on the slopes.
