Dana Carvey at the Coach House
You never quite know who you'll end up talking to while interviewing Dana Carvey. Over the decades the 57-year-old stand-up comedian and actor has built up an arsenal of impersonations, from musicians (Bob Dylan, Neil Young) to presidents (Reagan, the first Bush).
For his latest act, which comes to the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano on Friday, Carvey has been working hard on extrapolating the rhythm of the 44th commander-in-chief, Barack Obama.
"First off, I never really bother with accuracy," he says. "I try to find an attitude or rhythm, and then it's a matter of if the audience will recognize it."
