Shopping for a cause: How you can help Haiti
It’s been more then two weeks since a massive earthquake hit Haiti and took over 150,000 victims. Since then people have been helping out in whatever way they can whether it be donating $10 to the Red Cross by texting "HAITI" to 90999 or buying one of the many Haiti fashion promotions on line. The group effort has been amazing and although time has passed Haiti will need our help for a lot longer.
Through the American Red Cross there are a number of ways to donate to the cause, but there are also just as many unlikely ways to donate to Haiti.
Sigerson Morrison has worked out a deal so he can send shoes to Haiti. Through the end of February if you bring in a pair of lightly worn shoes you will get a 15% discount on the Spring/Summer collection and 10% off of sale items. Sigerson Morrison will then donate your pair of shoes, so think Haiti vs. Heels, to Soles4Soles and the Haiti Relief Fund.
For Alicia Keys' birthday she was asking fans for donations to Haiti
“Hey everyone,
Its that time again. My birthday!
Birthdays have become such a precious commodity in Africa and India where without your help many will not live to experience another birthday. Instead of buying me a gift I would love to have you donate to my organization "Keep a Child Alive" so that another child, another mom, another dad, another sister or brother can live to see and celebrate more birthdays with their families. Its easy...you can start by donating here.
Please, I'm so blessed with what I already have and just knowing someone will have another year at life is the best birthday gift I could ever receive! Thank you for your generosity!
With absolute love,
"Alicia “ donate here: keepachildalive.org
She also preformed in Hope for Haiti Now, a two hour telecast fundraiser.
Lindsey Lohan is also fundraising for Haiti with the help of her leggings line 6126. If you buy the Fame leggings in metallic silver 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the children of Haiti. Normally priced at $90 the leggings will be available for a limited time at the price of $65 and all proceeds will go to Save the Children.
“It is truly horrible what has happened to the people and children in Haiti. I believe every company should do their part to help by donating what they can. Please help us do our part for the Children of Haiti by purchasing this 6126 legging. I am proud to announce that we are giving 100% of the proceeds to Haiti’s children through an organization I am passionate about, Save the Children.”- Lindsay Lohan
Modelina teamed up with SPiN New York to host a Haiti fundraiser complete with silent auctions and ping-pong tournaments. Celebrities and models turned up and raised over $20,000 dollars.
There are many ways you can help Haiti, whether is be donating a pair of shoes to Sigerson Morrison or buying a pair of 6126 Fame leggings. There is no excuse, so if you haven’t done your part yet, get shopping, texting or hit up a fundraiser party. Doing your party not only feels good but it also can be fun.
