Friars Club honors Tom Cruise
The Friars Club thinks Tom Cruise is really awesome.
How awesome? In the entire recorded history of our planet, only three other people are anywhere near as awesome as Cruise, according to the Friars.
The Friars are giving their Entertainment Icon Award to Cruise next month, the Hollywood Reporter says.
The three others to receive the award in the 108-year history of the club are Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra. Unfortunately, they are no longer around to appreciate the fact that they are as awesome as Cruise.
“Tom Cruise will join an elite group of only three other entertainment legends who have received our Icon Award and whose work has made a global impact on our industry and changed the face of cinema,” said Jerry Lewis (yes, that Jerry Lewis), the Friars Club abbot. Then he said “Lady” in that weird way.
The Friars Club in New York is perhaps best known for its celebrity roasts, but they won’t be cooking up Cruise.
