AfterWork: Incahoots in Fullerton
A few weeks ago, the owner of The Ranch, Orange County's new upscale country nightspot in Anaheim, explained why he felt compelled to open his dance club.
He told me that he built the nightclub so that he and his fiancée would have a place to dance. He complained that the only alternative was Incahoots in Fullerton, which he dismissed because the crowd was too young.
The people who run Incahoots were not insulted at all when they read his quote in AfterWork. In fact, they were ecstatic because the whole point of Incahoots is that it is a place where young people can dance to country music.
And "Redneck Wednesdays" at Incahoots is where the really young people learn to dance so that they're ready for Tuesdays and Fridays at the club.
I'm not kidding. The club is open on Wednesdays to the 18-and-older crowd, while Tuesdays and Fridays are reserved for 21-and-older.
"Wednesday is kind of like the farm league for the other two nights," said country promoter Paul Dippolito. "Kids come in and learn how to dance. Then, when they turn 21, they come back on Tuesdays and Fridays."
Haven't you always wondered where young people learned how to line dance?
Incahoots doesn't have much of happy hour tradition, but there are drink specials from 5-7 p.m. on Fridays. The kitchen serves appetizers every night, and a taco station is set up on the patio after 10 p.m.
Free dance lessons are offered at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
