North Shore Winter: Haleiwa Reef Hawaiian Pro - day one of the waiting period
Day one of the Triple Crown of Surfing's first event the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa was a lay day. Today's decreasing swell saw small 3 to 4 foot surf in Haleiwa and the contest was put on hold for the day. It looks like with a week of not much the Reef Hawaiian Pro will most likely run it's first day on Friday with a chance for a Thursday midday start.
This brought on a search for waves and I thought to post up at Off the Wall in hopes of a little bigger surf and some talent in the water. As soon as I hit the beach I was stoked, waves looked good mostly sunny and a few of the boys where out ripping it! I saw California's Matt Pagan first on the sand with a photog, video guy and Orange Counties Nate Yeomans. In the line up was Gabriel Medina, Hawaii's Kaimana Jaquias and most of the Billabong team Roy Powers and Santa Cruz's Nat Young.
All in all great first day cover the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing
