1 of 26
Vans Triple Crown of Surfing lay day number two for the Reef Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa. With very little surf in the water most of the guys scattered all over the island getting settled in for the long stay. Rocky Point had a small crew out with the Reef team and a few others. Tomorrow will be more of the same as no surf is expected until Thursday.

North Shore Winter: Haleiwa Reef Hawaiian Pro - day two of the waiting period

Day two of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing waiting period of the first stop the Reef Hawaiian Pro in Haleiwa was a lay day as expected. As the waves get smaller by the minute with this NW swell leaving the islands the boys kind of scattered to the wind today knowing it would be a down day. Rocky Point had an early crew out in small 2 to 3 foot surf, but as the day went on most of the guys settled in for the long winter stay, going to Costco getting a lot of food in bulk, getting boards delivered to the house from their sharper's.

Tomorrow will be another lay day for sure as the waves will go flat on the north shore. Some of the guys will make the trek to the east side to catch some of the E swell that is in the water and building. Tonight Surfline is holding their opening party at the Turtle Bay, starts at 8pm so if in town or coming into the zone that will be the place to be.

Aloha,
