What to Wear on New Years Eve?

IMAGES AND WORDS BY TOSH TOSH / ORANGECOUNTY.COM

New Years is almost like Halloween, but a lot classier and not so character driven.  At night when it's time to go out and celebrate it's also time to dress up.  Some of the flashiest and loudest dresses make their way out to welcome the New Year with style.  Like the fireworks, it's all about sparkling, shinning and having a blast.

If your into sequins, that's the way to go.  Whether it be a sequin top or dress these pieces are a sure New Years hit.  Gold and silver sequins are the traditional colors but if your aiming for a more toned down look go for black or nude sequins.  On the other side of things if you want to spice it up a bit go for a sequin animal print or a bright but not to loud color.

Another way to approach the New Years is the classic way, sticking to the traditional color black.  While black may sound boring, with the right cut and style, it can be the dress of the night.  Look for a sensual style that's elegant and classy at the same time.  Short and body conscious can be good things, but when pushed to far they make even the most expensive dress look cheap.  Look for dresses with cool embellishments like gold details and contrast textiles.  A sexy neckline or a short hemline will also do the trick, turning a simple black dress into "the black dress."

You can also go about New Years attire by sticking with a silk satin dress that has New Years shine with a variety of options.  If you like color, do color with a shine!  Get a dress that drapes nicely across the body and accentuates your favorite parts.  Don't be afraid to go for a fun bright color, because New Years is all about extravagant clothes.

Whatever you wear make sure you take advantage of the opportunity New Years brings.  At no other time are so many sparkles, shines and sequins so appropriate!
