Casa Romantica exhibit spotlights ‘Tomorrow's Artists'
If you ask yourself, "How good can a high school art student be?" visit San Clemente's Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens this month. You might be in for a surprise.
"Tomorrow's Artists Today" is the title of a new exhibit featuring drawings, paintings, photographs and ceramics of San Clemente High School students, plus works of students from Shorecliffs and Bernice Ayer middle schools.

At an opening-night reception Friday, the talent level on display drew praise from Rick Stein, executive director of Arts Orange County. The exhibit is one of three dozen components of Orange County's 2011 Imagination Celebration, a collection of activities around the county April 15 through May 29.
At the Casa, 415 Avenida Granada, local students' works will be on display through June 5.
Trevor Reese took top honors with the Mayor's Award, Other pieces singled out for praise included works by Matt McCanne and Amy Freer (painting and drawing), Taylor Lester and Sabrina Brown (photography), Alex Plambeck and Josie Thornburg (ceramics) and Paige Hannemann and Riley Richardson (middle school).
Admission is $5 for the art exhibit and to view Casa Romantica's exhibits on local history, spring gardens and the elegant former home of San Clemente founder Ole Hanson.
