New food festival coming to Costa Mesa
A two-day food, wine and music festival, OC Tastefest, will make its debut this year at OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa during the OC Marathon.
The food event is slated to have 26 different restaurants represent each mile of the OC Marathon, which will be held May 5. The entrance of OC Tastefest is the finish line of the OC Marathon.
Hours of operation:
May 4 – 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
May 5 – 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
So far, Port Restaurant, Ten Asian Bistro, Caspian, Cucina Alessa, Salt Creek Grill, Mama’s on 39, Wahoo’s Fish Taco, Wingstop, and Marrakesh are confirmed participants to the event. Attendees purchase food by putting money on a Tastefest Event Card. That card, typical at tasting and outdoor vendor events, is the only way to make purchases at the event.
Entertainment hasn’t been selected yet.
“We are still talking to a number of talent options but we will certainly be having a number of tribute bands from most popular genres,” event organizer Gary Kutscher said.
Live entertainment will start at 6 p.m. on Friday (May 4) and 2 p.m. on Saturday (May 5).
Since this is a family event, said Kutscher, there will also be a childrens’ area with a bounce house, balloon animal makers, free games and other activities.
Tickets can be purchased online for $12 for one day and $18 for a two-day pass. Price at the door will be $20 and children 12 and under receive free admission when accompanied by a paid adult.
VIP tickets are also for sale for $95 online or $125 at the event. This ticket includes a pre-paid OC Tastefest Event Card, preferred parking, a special entrance to the OC Tastefest, access to the VIP Tent with premium wines and liquors, and seating at the VIP courtyard next to the Tastefest Stage. No one under the age of 21 is allowed in VIP areas.
Address: 88 Fair Drive
