Free Navy ship tours this week
Seriously, if you've got the time to drive over to the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro this week, this looks like something really worth doing.
For Navy Week, you can tour several U.S. Navy ships right now in the Los Angeles harbor for free, with free parking and a free shuttle bus.
(That file is a PDF so give it time to load)
There are ships available to tour now through Sunday, July 31, 2011.
You can sing "Anchors Aweigh" while you drive over there to put you in the mood.
I still remember touring an aircraft carrier when I was a kid. It was quite an experience, so check it out. You must be at least eight years old and able to walk through tight spaces to visit, bring a government-issued ID card and no backpacks allowed. Read all the rules and policies.
And thanks to bargain hunter Sandy Nguyen for tipping me off to this on my Facebook fan page!
Ships available to be toured:
- USS Abraham Lincoln (aircraft carrier)
- USS Princeton (CG 59) Cruiser
- USS Chafee (DDG 90) Destroyer
- USS Champion (MCM 4) Mine Countermeasures
- World Cruise Center (Follow Signs) 600 N Harbor Blvd San Pedro, California 90713
- USS Champion (MCM 4) Port of Los Angeles
