KROQ Halos and Horns Halloween

Images and Words by Tosh Tosh / orangecounty.com

Halloween use to be a time to scare away harmful spirits but now it's more of a chance to live out your secret fantasy's, wear what you'd never dare to any other day and show off some skin.  Friday night at the Orange County Fairgrounds there was a pre-fest concert and costume contest at the 1st Annual Halos N' Horns Music Fest.  Thirteen stages took over the playground thanks to sponsors like, KROQ, Tavik, and Jaegermeister.  While a lot of the night was filled with hard core rock bands like Korn, Bass Nectar, I:Alive and I am Ghost, there were also some more upbeat bands.  At the Tavik stage there was Iglu & Hartly, Shiny Toy Guns and Girl Talk while Jagermeister brought in Far East Movements and Shwayze.    So if you waited around long enough you got to see a pretty good line up.  Costume wise it was often hard to tell if people were wearing costumes or being serious….  In front of the Korn stage hard core rockers were everywhere and I'm pretty sure only a part of them were in costume.
Hit costumes for women were …
Flappers, 80's Aerobics, Harajuku type outfits and overall sexy body conscious get ups.
A lot of guys seemed to just pull together something by throwing on a wig and adding some random pieces of clothing together.  The major hits were the Hangover guys complete with fake baby and underwear helmet combo.

It was great to see everyone on stage dressing up, you'd never think batman would be singing hardcore rock, but thanks to Halos N Horns I was witness to that.  And it's surprising how women get so much *&$# for dressing slutty when I probably saw more male skin then female.  Check out the picture of Iglu & Hartly on Taviks stage… love the nudeness of the men!  Especially since they were rocking out with such style in those Speedo like costumes…
Hope everyone had a great Halloween and if you didn't scare away harmful spirits I hope you at least had some fun!
