Boho chic Johnny Was at Fashion Island
I completely forgot how infatuated I was with the new Johnny Was line when I bumped into their booth at the Magic trade show in Las Vegas last year. Out of sight, out of mind.
Johnny Was is a new line from a company that has been around for years, but in the past as private label and wholesale only at the California Fashion Mart in Los Angeles. The company ventured out with t-shirts in 2004. Now there are eight divisions crafting all kinds of beachy, boho and hippie-chic clothing in comfortably baggy styles. What all their lines have in common is embroidery.
And then there is was….the Johnny Was stand alone store in Fashion Island. There were four of us making our way out of a nearby department store including my daughter, daughter-in-law (soon to be) and her sister. All four heads turned in unison, what!
And in we went and tried on boatloads of tunics, scarves, jackets and accessories. Industry insiders call their clothes fun, feminine and flirty.
I like they way most pieces fit all body styles for all ages. I’m a grandmother and I was coveting the same tunic that my 18-year-old companion was. That either tells you something about me, or about the clothing.
Anyway, Fashion Island = Johnny Was.
