It might have seemed like a two-month cruise to the first Stanley Cup in Kings' franchise history. For those inside the offices of Toyota Sports Center, it was a nine-year slog.
The Kings had not won a playoff series in Dean Lombardi's tenure until they beat Vancouver in the first round. They didn't stop there, rampaging to a Cup in only 20 games and never having to play a Game 7.
But there were barricades and detours along the way, and a ton of patience required to stick with the original plan. The reward was the Cup on Monday night and the promise of more success ahead.
