From smaller restaurants to better-known chains, local eateries are concocting affordable late night drinks and dishes to satisfy foodies addicted to the midnight munchies.

In Orange County, the late-night Happy Hour is going strong — a post-dinner time slot aimed at foodies who want to indulge at the bar without breaking their budget. These discounted menus are showing up in all sectors, from upscale bars like Haven Gastropub in Orange to mainstream chains such as Irvine-based Yard House.

"Late-night happy hour is so good for people like me," said Steven Nguyen, a Santa Ana Morton's Steakhouse regular. "I work late and it's so affordable for people that are on a budget. I mean, you get quality for what you pay for."
