Fly LAX to Dallas for $49.50
For real.
Right now American Airlines is offering the unheard-of fare of $49.50 each way to fly from LAX or San Francisco to the Dallas-Ft. Worth airport.
You can use these fares to fly through Oct. 27, 2011.
I'm not sure why. Maybe it has something to do with the fires in Texas, or the hurricanes that might be reducing travel to the Caribbean and points east through the American hub there.
In any event, Dallas DFW is a big hub for American, so it's easy to get other places from Dallas, in case you aren't interested in this as a final destination. I was just looking at some super cheap fares the other day from Dallas to Costa Rica, as a matter of fact.
