New Asian market slated for Irvine

THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

Assi Super, based in Koreatown, Los Angeles since 1998, will open its first Orange County location in fall 2012.

The ethnic market, which specializes in Korean fare, will take over the space currently occupied by Stein Mart at the Woodbridge Village Center in Irvine. The O.C. location will be called called Assi Natural Market.

Stein Mart will be moving to the Irvine side of the Market Place on Jamboree Road. (It is going to replace Office Max, which is relocating to another spot in the center Oct. 31, the Irvine Co. said.)

The full service grocery store will carry items with a focus on natural, organic ingredients imported from Korea, Japan, China, Southeast Asia or purchased from local manufacturers.

The market will also feature a hot food bar with a variety of food options without MSG and catering services for customers.

Assi is opening in the space once home to Vons Pavilions. The center is anchored by Barnes & Noble, Woodbridge Movies 5 Theater, professional and medical offices and a few restaurants. The retail center is at 4500 – 4820 Barranca Parkway, Irvine, CA 92604.
