Old-timey beauty brand that celebs love

I’m not too adventurous when it comes to trying new products. After all, lotions and potions add up and the Dove bar is right there in front of me.  That and my well-known pale pink moisturizer. Pretty sad.

But Kiehl’s sent a trial package of facial cleanser, toner, moisturizer and eye cream. I had to try the brand that is a favorite of prior billionaire Ruth Madoff and before her, Andy Warhol. Kiehl’s has been around since the 1850s and if it’s in Gwen Stefani’s beauty bag, maybe it’s worth a try.

Tried. OK – I get it.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser. How to describe? It goes on super-creamy, kinda like butta, and washes off with a squeek. Not sure how they do that, but I’m crazy about the result! Clean and hydrated, not greasy.

Could be the sulfate-free Imperata Root and Lemon fruit extract formula. And it turns out, Kiehl’s has been into botanical extracts and natural ingredients, like, forever. Since the beginning.

Skipping the toner, which smells like good old-fashioned Witch Hazel to me, and applying their Ultra Facial Oil-Free lotion, my skin is left with a feeling of zing. And perfectly hydrated to my taste.

Not sure I’ll be all about moisturizer, but I’m sold on the cleanser, for sure.

There is a Kiehl’s boutique at South Coast Plaza, and you can buy it at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales.

Sorry Dove, you’ve served me well. I’m switching.
