#madeinoc: Catching up with Amahlia Stevens and Vitamin A Swimwear

The warm summer season is fast approaching so we decided to check out Laguna Beach’s Vitamin A Swimwear to see what else is hot besides the weather.

Founded by Southern California native Amahlia Stevens, Vitamin A offers fresh, feminine, and well-fitted swimwear and cover-ups.  According to Stevens, she finds most of her inspiration off the Pacific Coast from her hometown of Malibu, travels to Baja Mexico and Costa Rica, to her current stomping ground of Laguna Beach.

This season, Vitamin A features its Sleek and Chic collection made entirely from eco-fabrics such as 100% recycled nylon fibers mixed with the fundamental and flexible LYCRA fabric.  Stevens is exceptionally proud of this line because not only has it taken her three years to create, but also because “the line feels and looks great while being ecologically responsible,” says the designer.

As seen on A-list celebrity Scarlett Johansson, Vitamin A’s Bright Idea line features 10 must-have cuts and designs in 10 essential solids that can be mixed and matched – to make any look, with any color.

Also this season is Vitamin A’s Pastel Dreamy line for those who prefer a softer color palette for lounging under a palm tree or by the poolside.  The line features the same sexy and flattering cuts, but with softer hues and crisp crochets.

What makes Vitamin A stand out from other swimsuit lines?  Not only does the line’s aesthetic fits the West Coast chic/California lifestyle, but mainly because of its authenticity.  Stevens meticulously designs each piece to fit the female body (not to mention that the bottoms stay put and don’t ride up) that brings out and radiates each Vitamin A-cladded woman’s natural sexiness.
