Surf was fun when the waves came around every 20 minutes, but with these real long period swells sometimes your wait between sets can be as long as 20 minutes and with only four waves to a set, it was a marathon session that got a few fun ones this morning.

Super Bowl Sunday had sunny skies in Huntington Beach, along with perfect weather for the Huntington Beach Surf City Marathon. Thousands of runners from up and down the coast and as far away as Brazil, Korea, and South Africa took to the streets Sunday morning for the 13-mile jog.

The guys in the water had their own marathon going down too with 4' to 5' sets at 22 sec. - meaning a set every 20-plus minutes. The guys had to get their rides in quick, with sets every 20 minutes only four waves deep. Long waiting periods made for long marathon sessions.
