Dirty Heads lead nominees for OC Music Awards

The votes have been counted and the nominees for the 2013 OC Music Awards, to be held March 9 at City National Grove of Anaheim, are in.

Huntington Beach reggae-rock outfit the Dirty Heads lead with four nominations, including best album (for Cabin by the Sea), best song and music video (both for "Dance All Night") and best world. Four other acts scored three nominations apiece, including long-running O.C.-spawned favorites Lit and No Doubt and rising stars Jeramiah Red. But there are some new names peppered amid the 23 categories, which this year include two additions: best tribute and best music producer.

Recipients of the OC Impact and Lifetime Achievement honors will be revealed on Feb. 4. The People's Choice nominees will be unveiled on March 4.

The finalists in the seven-week OC Music Awards Showcase Series will be announced after the final battle on Feb. 19. A winner will be chosen during the series finals at House of Blues Anaheim on Feb. 26. The showcases kick off Tuesday night, Jan. 8, at Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa with performances from Fellow Bohemian, Alabaster Stones, Flying Sparks, Robert Jon & the Wreck and the Field Trip.
