Photo Recap: Comune's "Experiments in Occultism and Parapsychology"
COMUNE celebrates the official launch of Drop City, "Experiments in Occultism and Parapsychology," an investigative look into supernatural expressions, ideas, practices and miraculous feats in artistry.
Now what does all that mean you ask??
Well... The Drop City is an art exhibition with some really good, albeit sometimes out there art work from some really talented artists. Comune invited team athletes, artists, activists and friends to check out the show and eat some free food from Gringo and The Bean.
The exhibition is based upon the theme of "Occultism", which is the study of occult or hidden wisdom that has to do with black magic rites, and is connected with witchcraft. The word “occult” itself means “hidden” or “unseen.” It was used to describe those rites, which were forbidden by civil law during the Middle Ages. Such
terms as “parapsychology” were later developed to describe the discipline that seeks to investigate the existence and causes of psychic abilities and life after death using the scientific method.
Participating Drop City artists include Corey Smith, Jason Lee Parry, Andrew Kuykendall, Jimmy Fontaine, Hunter Longe, Shelby Menzel, Nathan and Noah Rice, Ray Gordon, Noel Boyt, Danielle DaFoe, Keelan Shilling, Ben Brough and more...
Inspired by the early 1960’s artist commune in Colorado and the brainchild of COMUNE’s Art Director, Corey Smith, COMUNE’s Drop City gallery is housed in a structure of recycled steel shipping containers. Drop City was introduced to attract like‐minded creative people to the COMUNE artist community and contribute through COMUNE’s clothing brand. Over time Drop City will continue to evolve its’ community, creative platform and influence.
