What's on sale? Your weekly grocery deals
Here are your Southern California grocery deals from Wednesday, Oct. 6 to Tuesday, Oct. 12 (a few stores go Thursday-Wednesday so check their websites).
To see the entire circular for each store, with all your favorite items on sale, go to the second page of this blog and click on the blue supermarket names to go directly to their weekly ads. I strongly recommend doing this, because I can only list a tiny fraction of all the items on sale!
Deals I like this week:
- Ralphs is unveiling its new store brand of soda, Big K soda, for $1.77 per 12-pack
- Red seedless grapes at Ralphs 79 cents lb.
- Albertsons 2 lb. medium shrimp $9.99 peeled and deveined with coupon
- La Romanella pasta sauce 26 oz. jar $1.49 at Smart & Final
- Pumpkins 2 for $5 at Fresh & Easy
- Fresh California strawberries 4 lbs. for $5 at Sprouts
- California red, yellow or green bell peppers 49 cents each at Sprouts
- Cantaloupes 77 cents each at Sprouts
- Fresh broccoli 49 cents lb. at Stater Brothers
- Hillshire Farm smoked sausage $1.99 pkg at Stater Brothers
- Fuji apples 2 lbs. for 98 cents at Food4Less
And you know how good salmon is for you, so note that fresh Alaskan Coho salmon fillets are $6.99 lb. at Ralphs, Stater Brothers, Vons and Pavilions. Sometimes you can pay $6.99 just for one tiny fillet, so that is a good deal! Eat up for your health.
And, note, if you need a coupon to do the deal, supermarkets usually have copies of their fliers somewhere around the front of the store or you can ask for one, except for Albertsons which only has fliers without coupons available (boo!)

- *Superior does not work very hard to make sure its meat specials are available. If you go in and can't locate an advertised special, find an employee and ask for it. If they give you a story about how you need to come back later, complain to the manager and tell me, too! I've been given that story more than once. I have also gone myself into the cold room and found racks of specials that were not put out for customers. However, their deals are so great, like this 39-cent chicken legs, that I put up with the aggravation.
