DeeLux Buy/Sell/Trade Clothing Store: Who says looking stylish has to cost a fortune?

Have you ever been walking out of a high end department store nervously scanning your receipt, lightheartedly justifying your purchases and wondering to yourself: “Did I really just charge $300 to my Visa card?”

Fashions and styles endlessly flounder within each day’s given customary tide (especially in Orange County). The trends that are in may no longer be in, and the things that were out may still be out… yet something new has wiggled its way in. How is one supposed to keep up? It’s so confusing.

Regardless of who’s making the next breath-taking call, deep inside the dungeons of the fashion realm, and what they’re making the call about… many people will always be in a sightless pursuit for the next hot development.

However, at DeeLux Clothing Store in Costa Mesa, it somehow feels like you’re free to make that call for yourself.  That, to me, is a very refreshing feeling.

DeeLux humbly sits on the corner of Harbor Blvd and Adams Ave, right next to the Haus of Pizza and the recently vacant Paul Mitchell School. It’s a stellar gig they’ve got goin’ on there.

Opened in 2002, by Dave and Denise Brown, the DeeLux Costa Mesa location has proven itself to be a more lucrative spot than their previous location in Riverside. “We’re at the crossroads of Orange County” states Dave Brown. “We get the crowds from Santa Ana, Newport Beach, right here in Costa Mesa, as well as the college students from Irvine”.

The store deals in about 50% used and 50% new inventory. They buy much of their stock from individual sellers but also take in large orders of new clothing/accessories from reps and designers.  But anyone is welcomed to bring in their unwanted things and sling them for cash or store credit (I always prefer store credit, simply because you get more than you would in cash and there’s usually always something sweet on the rack).

They carry everything from Levi’s to Seven For All Mankind, Diesel, True Religion, American Apparel and everywhere in between, along with scores of unique finds from every decade in your lifetime. There’s always a fresh new selection, so frequent visits are always different.

Dave Brown prides himself in providing people with up-to-date, fashionable threads, at a low price. “We emphasize in quality” states Brown. And he isn’t joking about the prices. They’re freakish. On any given stopover, you can bring 1/10th of the money you would normally pack in your wallet, and walk out of there with double what you would get at any department store.

With dozens of racks filled with jeans, t-shirts, blouses, jackets, hoodies, boots, sandals, and hats, DeeLux also makes room for hundreds of accessories and novelty goodies. Brightly colored 80’s shades, pink fake mustache’s for women, retro rings and bracelets, animal face Sherpa beanies, remarkable belts, hot dog wallets, and solar print kits… just to name a small few.

If you’ve never shopped here, DeeLux is definitely worthy of a duty call. You may waltz in one day and leave empty handed, but fear not, the next day may hold countless treasures that’ll please your closet along with your wallet.
