Tom Sizemore claims he's clean and sober

Tom Sizemore has kicked drugs – at least according to Tom Sizemore.

Those who have followed the 50-year-old actor’s off-screen train wreck of a life know that he has battled for years with substance abuse. But in an interview with Fox News this week, Sizemore said addiction counselor Dr. Drew Pinsky changed him for the better.

“I called up Dr. Drew and told him I was lost and in trouble,” Sizemore said. “He came to see me and that was the beginning.”

Sizemore also credits his advancing years and late-blooming maturity with helping him to put his hard-partying ways behind him.

“I’m older now. I was immature. I was coddled and there is a permissiveness that sometimes goes on with people who are successful as actors. Before you know it you have this monster.”

Sizemore thinks his acting is better now: “It’s more controlled, it’s more discreet. I’m more mindful of my choices.”

He’s also in the right frame of mind to find a long-term romantic mate.

“I’ve simplified what’s in my head. Like what do you desire? Do you really desire to have sex with six women, or is that something you saw somewhere or something someone said to you? I really desire a partner.”

Welcome back, Tom. Now get to work. We missed you!
