The Ducks placed their sour season aside Saturday for a little fun.

The team hosted its annual skills competition at Honda Center, nearly 5,000 people showing up.

Team Selanne defeated Team Perry, 12-10, for the overall title.

"Especially in Southern California, you're trying to grow the sport.," Coach Bruce Boudreau said when asked about the importance of fan-friendly events like this one. "I think you have to get involved. If this was the city of Toronto, maybe you wouldn't have to do that as much.

"I think it's more my personality, wanting to get involved in it. Three, four thousand people come out to watch you want to make it as interesting as possible."

Boudreau served as rink-side commentator during the competition and offered several biting remarks.
