OC Style - Urban Republic

Words and Images by Tosh Tosh / orangecounty.com

Since July of 2007 Urban Republic Clothing has strived at providing contemporary urban clothing.  Although the brainchild of the brand, Peter Rhima, is originally form Nigeria, he has found a comfortable home for his company in Anaheim.    The Urban Republic site reads "Longevity, Wearability and Believability" and talks about the vision of the company being "of young people driven by liberated thinking, courageous self expression, high levels of education and practical entrepreneurship."  The line, which focuses on denim, also does a range of ready to wear that follows the same urban contemporary aesthetic.
The general looks for their Spring 2010 fashion show were classic pieces accessorized and styled to give an urban feel.  Dark sunglasses, fingerless gloves and military boots helped portray a strong image for the Urban Republic man and woman.  For the men button-down collared shirts were left half open at the bottom and top and were haphazardly tucked in to the denim pants.  While the collection mainly focused on men, the few women's exits consisted of body conscious tanks and denim that were not afraid to show some skin.
The classic looks were far from avant-garde but the obvious quality of the material and tailored cuts make for some very wearable pieces.
