USA Sevens Rugby invades Las Vegas
International tournament thrills fans
The USA Sevens International Rugby Tournament retured to Las Vegas last weekend. Teams from sixteen nations fought on the pitch at Sam Boyd Stadium in front of near capicity crowds. This is the third straight year that the tournament has USA Sevens has been in Las Vegas and the weather was perfect for the spectators. The US men's team didn't fair so well but the US women's team made it to the women's finals before losing to team Canada.
Rugby Sevens is a fast, high scoring sport that will be re-introduced to the Olympics in 2016. In Rugby Sevens, there are seven players on a team and matches consist of seven minute halfs and a two minute half-time. Scoring can be very high and the action is non-stop. This was stop number five of the world series with round six being played in Hong Kong in late March.
