Spot Check: Volcom Skatepark in Costa Mesa

Images and Words by John Salanoa / orangecounty.com

Volcom Skate Park in Costa Mesa is free to to the public as long as you have your helmet on. The cat and mouse game with local police is fun to watch just as much as the skating is. The police try to sneak in and close the gates and if your in the park without a helmet it's a ticket. The crowd is cool and calm no localisem a very good vibe. Groms going off in the bowl, down the rails, up the stairs. If you come down bring your helmet or a lookout, if you don't you might get taxed by the man.
