Brown: 'I didn't get Whitney on drugs'

THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

Bobby Brown didn’t do it.

Though it has long been thought that the New Edition singer turned his then-wife, Whitney Houston, onto drugs, he told Matt Lauer of the “Today” show Wednesday that that’s not the way it happened.

Drugs were a part of her life before the couple got together, he said. “Way before.”

Brown said he didn’t get “high” before he met Houston. “I smoked weed. I drank beer,” he said, but he didn’t take “narcotics.”

“No, I wasn’t the one that got Whitney on drugs … I’m not the reason she’s gone.”

Asked how he feels about the accusations, Brown said: “It makes me feel terrible. But I know differently. I think if anyone knew us … they would know how we felt about each other.”
