Elton John has been hospitalized in Los Angeles and forced to cancel his upcoming concerts in Las Vegas.
According to a report on TMZ, John checked into Cedars-Sinai Hospital at 6 a.m. Wednesday with a severe respiratory infection.
Doctors told him he needed rest and recommended antibiotics "to prevent damage." They also said he shouldn't perform for seven days.
That means that John's four concerts this weekend in Vegas have been scratched.
"It feels strange not to be able to perform these 'Million Dollar Piano' concerts at the Colosseum," John told the website.
"I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts."
TMZ says that it "appears" that John has since been released from the hospital.
