Kardashian divorce: Lawyers duke it out
Well, now we know where the lawyers stand.
Kim Kardashian’s lawyer wants to get her divorce to Kris Humphries over with.
“I feel that (Humphries') personal feelings and maybe some media drive is keeping this case alive,” Laura Wasser told a judge in Los Angeles on Friday. She said the couple is eligible for a divorce since it has been more than six months since Kardashian filed her petition.
“Certainly, they've been separated longer than they've been married,” Wasser added, trenchantly.
Humphries’ lawyers, of course, said hooey to that, though in legal terms. That’s how these things work. They want more time to gather evidence that the Humphries/Kardashian nuptials were a sham, designed, in part, for maximum reality show ratings.
Wasser offered a kind of threat. If the case goes to trial, she said, and Kardashian wins, she’ll ask Humphries to pay her legal fees.
Kardashian and Humphries weren’t in court.
The judge asked both sides to return to court on Aug. 15 for a status hearing.
