Want to sing the National Anthem at a Ducks game?
See that young lady singing the National Anthem at an Anaheim Ducks game in the photo above? That's Madison Carney of La Habra, who was 14 years old last year when she won our Oh Say Can You Sing? contest and ended up on the Honda Center ice with a color guard and a microphone before the Ducks played the Los Angeles Kings.
And now? Well, yours truly is one of the judges this year, so let's get this party started, shall we?
Here's how it work: The contest is open to Southern California residents 13 or older, and all you have to do to enter is submit a 30-second video of you singing any song of your choice. Go to OCRegister.com/contests and scroll down the contest link for instructions on how to upload your video.
You've got until 11:59 a.m. on Feb. 29 to submit your video and rally people to vote for you in an online ballot. After Feb. 29, the top five vote-getters and five singers picked by the judges will advance to Round 2.
In this second round, the 10 finalists will be voted for online from March 1 through March 8 at 11:59 p.m. At the end of Round 2, the top two vote-getters and top two judges picks will advance to a sing-off at Honda Center on March 20.
The winner of that sing-off will get to sing the National Anthem on Fan Appreciation Night on April 1 at Honda Center, receiving two tickets to watch the Ducks play the Edmonton Oilers. They'll also receive an Anaheim Ducks team-signed jersey and hockey stick.
During the online voting you can vote up to 10 times per minute for yourself, as can all of the family, friends, Facebook pals and so forth you can recruit. The Grand Prize winner will be announced online at ocregister.com/ducks.
