Bartender won't press charges on Gooding
Looks like another celebrity won’t have to pay for his crimes.
The bartender who said that Cuba Gooding Jr. pushed her during a late night altercation doesn’t plan to press charges, managers at a New Orleans bar said.
Police issued an arrest warrant for the Oscar-winning actor on a misdemeanor battery charge Tuesday. He was allegedly involved in an altercation with the unidentified bartender after he became upset with fans who wanted him to pose for photos with them. Gooding, again allegedly, pushed the bartender twice during the kerfuffle.
Gooding spoke with police on Wednesday and was issued a court summons.
“It is our understanding the employee involved in the alleged altercation has chosen to drop all charges against Mr. Cuba Gooding Jr.,” said an Old Absinthe House spokeswoman. "While we continue to investigate this matter internally, we are hopeful that this will put an end to the matter."
“The witness indeed has indicated that she is likely to drop the charges,” said a city spokesman. “If she does, and after prosecutors review the evidence, a determination will be made as to whether to dismiss the charges.”
