Outrageous celebrity antics of the week

George Clooney's fundraising dinner for the re-election campaign of Barack Obama is expected to raise close to $12 million, a record for shindigs of its kind, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Hungry Democrats, including studio heads and celebrities, are ponying up $40,000 each for the meal and the chance to be in the same room with Clooney. The president will also be there. Campaign sources tell THR that the May 10 event in Clooney's Studio City hovel is already sold-out, with 150 expected to attend. An online component to the fundraiser, in which donors enter a sweepstakes to win a seat at the head table with the Leader of the Free World and Obama (see what we did there?), could end up raising $6 million on its own, sources say.
