1. “Game of Thrones” (HBO) – I keep trying, I really do, but I can't get into this popular fantasy series. There are things about it to recommend: It's beautifully photographed, well acted, occasionally thrilling, sometimes amusing. But ultimately it offers nothing to care about. Imagine “Lord of the Rings” stripped of its political and cultural allegories; all that remains is genre.
