Outrageous celebrity antics of the week

Lindsay Lohan got into a humdinger of a car accident Friday, was taken to the emergency room afterwards and released a few hours later. TMZ first reported the incident. The actress was driving a black Porsche on Pacific Coast Highway and collided with an 18-wheeler. Lohan's condition was not known at first, but a source told the website she was OK. The Porsche, thoroughly mangled in photos, was said to be totaled. Santa Monica Police Sgt. Candice Cobarrubias said Lohan was involved in a crash around 11:45 a.m. Officers were investigating the accident. Cobarrubias said no one else was injured in the crash and that police would not immediately release any other details. Meanwhile, TMZ said that Lohan's assistant was also in the vehicle, was injured and taken to the hospital. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Lohan was not under the influence of alcohol, nor was the truck driver. Later in the afternoon, Steve Honig, Lohan's hardworking spokesman, wrote in an email to the AP that Lohan was taken to a hospital as a precaution, but was released two hours after the accident happened. He said that Lohan was headed back to work filming the Lifetime movie “Liz & Dick.” Lohan is playing the role of Liz, not Dick. Honig said no one was seriously injured in the accident, which remained under investigation by police. (The Associated Press contributed to this report.)
