50 years of mystique

Author and feminist Betty Friedan in a photo from May 2000. Her book "The Feminine Mystique" became a best seller in the 1960s and laid the groundwork for the modern feminist movement. A 50th anniversary edition of the book was published this month. Friedan died at 85 on Feb. 4, 2006, her birthday.
