2011 Special Olympics in Long Beach

The Special Olympics Southern California hosted its 13th annual Summer Games on June 11 and 12 at California State University Long Beach. Over 1,000 children and adults participated in the event which included competitions in swim, track and field.

The Special Olympics Southern California hosted its 13th annual Summer Games on June 11 and 12 at California State University Long Beach. Over 1,000 children and adults participated in the event which included competitions in swim, track and field, basketball, golf and bocce. Special Olympics Southern California is a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition, according to its website.
