Huntington Beach's Brad Ettinger said he never lost hope despite trailing most of his heat in Monday's round of surfing at the U.S. Open of Surfing.

It was another good day for Orange County surfers at the 2008 Honda U.S. Open of Surfing. Day 8 saw Tim Reyes, Cory Lopez, Nate Yoemans, Brett Simpson and Dane Gudauskas advance to the round of 24. Video by Greg Magnus.

The round of 96 was relatively kind to O.C. surfers at the Honda 2008 U.S. Open of Surfing. Day 7 saw Tim Reyes, Brett Simpson, Patrick and Dane Gudauskas and Cory Lopez advance to the round of 48.
